MADRONA HOUSE II | SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

Back to Homes On Land

This beautifully detailed 1904 Craftsman home had an enormous storage attic that we utilized for the home’s remodel and addition. The design preserved the original gabled roof profile while strategically adding new shed dormers. The addition of the dormers created enough floor space for a generous, third story master suite. The suite includes a separate TV sitting area, a built-in, leather top writing desk, a walk-in closet, a  master bathroom, and a bedroom with a wide balcony. The layout allows the areas of the suite to be visually interconnected yet spatially distinct.

The chosen details and materials of the addition all respect the aesthetics of the original design intent. For example, the flower and leaf motif on the railing panels enhance the traditional style of the house in way that is unique to the home’s occupants. In addition to the master suite, the project also included upgrades and renovations to many other spaces so as to bring it up to the functional needs of today.
