An expansive yard with views over the Puget Sound drew the client to the site of her West Seattle home. In an effort to save costs, we built our design partially atop the foundation of the existing house. As is such, it has a Tee shaped plan that defines both front and back outdoor spaces. The design offers an intentional blurring of indoor and outdoor by means of full height windows on either side of the lofted living area. Furthermore, the traditional shape of the gabled roof is cleanly juxtaposed against the contemporary detailing and finishes throughout the house. The overall design offers a contemporary aesthetic and an environment of serenity and peace.
